THATCHICKEN

Now, if you haven’t heard the story about “keep f*cking that chicken” on Fox News. Here’s the story from Huffington Post.

Keep F***ing That Chicken: Ernie Anastos, News Anchor, Curses On Air

Legendary New York broadcaster Ernie Anastos had a momentary lapse of reason Wednesday night when he dropped the F-bomb live on TV.

During some playful banter with local weatherman Nick Gregory, Anastos complimented Gregory, or at least attempted to, by saying, “It takes a tough man to make a tender forecast, Nick.”

Looking confused, Gregory responded, “I guess that’s me.”

Without missing a beat, Anastos continued, “Keep f***ing that chicken,” a completely bewildering phrase that made co-anchor Dari Alexander’s eyes bug out of her head. Gregory, for his part, just threw his hands up and shook his head.

So hilarious! Adam showed me the story and asked me to design a shirt for it. Here’s my sketch so far based on old-school diner advertisements. Usually I don’t post my sketches but I just couldn’t wait.

I bought the coolest bag ever from my new friend Ruth. She has an organization Reloop Designs that produces these beautiful bags out of basic trash. The plastic bags we so quickly discard are turned into masterpieces by the disabled in Cambodia. She also pays them fair trade wages! Here’s info on them from their website.

Reloop Designs are handmade from hygienically processed recycled plastic bags collected from the fields and waterways of Kampot, Cambodia. Every element in the creation of these products is helping improve livelihoods by providing fair-wage income through bag collection, yarn production, teaching skills and environmental clean-up. Each item is unique in coloring and patina, reflecting the nuances of weathered plastic..

So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE support them. So eat at home and skip that lavish expensive dinner one night so you can buy yourself a beautiful and fashionable bag, belt, bowl or pin from them. The prices are very reasonable. You’ll not only adding a wonderful piece to your home or outfit but also be helping a Cambodian family learn a life skill of crochet and help them to feed their family. You’ll also be recycling and protecting the environment.  And you’ll also be gaining more karma points which in the end is the most important.nable development.

Candy Graphic Tshirt

I have an addiction to sweets. I can’t lie – I love candy and it’s my main food group. So this is an original drawing I made to proclaim my love for candy.

I love vintage pin-up girls so I try to have one every season. The girl is provocative in a 1950s way. Probably a bit too clean for the MTV/iPhone generation. Which makes it just perfect for one of my tshirts.

Here’s another in my drug design collection. I’ve taken this design with me to Union Square and it hasn’t been very popular. People tend to shy away from my drug designs which is fine for me. I have alot of tanks that have my drug war cowboy designs, and a very conservative mom who was rifling through them asked me in a condescending way “do you have any designs that aren’t drug related?” Of course I do, but I answered with a very flat “No.” I don’t need that kind of customer.

I have some really popular family-friendly designs and some subversive not-so-popular designs.  If you want to be commercially successful and still keep your artistic integrity, it’s good to strike a balance with doing both kind of designs.

Who doesn’t love a great idea? Well, I definitely love them. Usually I think light bulbs are a cheesy symbol for ideas, but this one rocks. This design came from a soviet union clip art book that I have. I actually got the book from the Whitney book store here in NYC. This city is full of great art books and I never have a problem finding inspiration.

I remember one of the very first drawings I did was of an owl. The teacher loved it and put it up on the wall. So now, many years later I wanted to draw another for a shirt. The word Hoot was a perfect addition.
