Hey C!

Welcome to LA. You can't go anywhere in this town without a crew, PA, or StarWagon blocking the sidewalk, the street, your parking garage or your favorite coffee hangout. Bastards think they own the place. If they're going to subject people to their over-sized, over-priced, over-stuffy production nonsense, they should give everyone access to their craft services...especially the homeless.

Well, so sorry to hear about your hood invasion. But actually, they probably can't fit in BK, what with all the other production crews inundating BK; there's simply no room. Production crews basically LIVE in Park Slope,Brooklyn Heights, Fort Greene, etc. As for the Burg, that's the independent documentary crew, give the big shows a min to catch on. Queens (not my fav but where I reside) should brace itself, they're a coming whether it's wanted or not. SUCKS! I know. I lived through almost 20yrs of this kinda crap in Brooklyn and it still grates my nerves no matter where it is.

Yes, there is a textural difference between the two. Screen printing creates that smooth plastic-y print while block printing creates that fabric-y feel.

The peely stuff? Yuck. Screenprinting ink, for sure. Water-based screenprinting inks penetrate the fabric more while the popular Plastisol ink leaves a thicker, heavier print.

FYI - 99% of graphic tshirts are screenprinted.

Totally understand about the price/quality investments. Spend the money on your education, always.

Ciara, from a texture standpoint is there a difference between screen and block printing?

For example is screen printing that raised sort of plastic feeling stuff? And is block printing when the print feels like it is part of the fabric?

What's going on when the design peels off in little bits from a hot dryer and/or stretching over time? I hate that plastic/flaking stuff and don't want to spend my money on that. I'm a texture person.

All that said, right now that I'm a student again, I'm one of your price sensitive customers. (I'm not only price senstive in shirts, but everything. For instance, I just said "no" to a $2k gorgeous Art & Crafts period style rug and bought a faux Oriental for 1/4 the price - because well, I'm investing in education right now. It's not that I don't appreciate the artistry in the higher priced work. It's just an economic choice/reality.) :)
